Celebrate the National Trust for Canada's 2nd annual Historic Places Day, with a visit to Caledon's spectacular Alton Mill Arts Centre! According to the National Trust, on July 7, "thousands of Canadians" will take part in the occasion, making special trips to historic sites around the country. The National Trust is even running a selfie contest -- for a chance to win $1,000 -- and the Alton Mill is a registered & eligible historic site.

 

The Alton Mill has a rich history dating back to the 1800s, and its small town and industrial origins have been carefully restored and incorporated into the modern day site. In 2009, the Alton Mill received an award for rehabilitation and adaptive re-use from the National Trust, then named the Heritage Canada Foundation. This award followed a decade of complex restoration projects that revitalized Alton's derelict and abandoned Beaver Knitting Mill into multi-use heritage and arts complex including artist studios and gallery space.
