About
My passion is working with hot glass. Three Girls and a Bead came into being in 2006 when I was on vacation at Blue Mountain and attended a class in jewellery making and wire working. I was hooked. Since then I have been creating uniquely designed pieces of jewellery using semi-precious stones, sterling silver and Swarovski crystals, supplying specialty shops with my designs. In 2008 a couple of local glass artists Joan Hope and Beth Grant turned me on to lampworking. With their enthusiasm and passion for the art, I became instantly addicted and that, I am truly grateful for.
The artist in me was instantly fascinated and absorbed by working with hot glass and the endless possibilities that can be achieved. How the glass behaves and the way the different elements within the colours of the glass cause unexpected reactions is both fascinating and challenging. I use mainly Italian and Bullseye glass to create my beads, although in the two years I have been lampworking the palette of colours has become vast with many new glasses coming on the market all the time. The use of Silver Leaf and Glass Frit add to the wealth of possibilities for creating these uniquely handcrafted beads. My jewellery is designed using these beads. I complement my collections with the finest silver, to create pieces that are distinctive, simple and therefore easy to wear.
The potential of working with glass seems endless, and I plan on exploring this medium to its fullest. So many shapes, colors, and combinations.
Having a studio open to the public will enable me to share my passion for glass with you. I hope to see you there. Three girls and a Bead also offers free demos. Just come by and ask. Lamp working classes are available starting at $80.00 for a two hour introductory class. We also offer bracelet making parties for all ages. A great birthday party idea or a bridal party or just a girls day/night out!!!
