Pablo Picasso once said, "Every child is an artist, the problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up."
Jo is a self taught artist and comes to it through a deep desire to find meaning and joy in the process of self expression. Jo's interests lie in the freedom of painting abstract using acrylics and has come to enjoy collage and mixed media, sometimes using her own text and photo imagery to personalize her work.
As a trained Actor/Singer and having a love of writing the studio has allowed her the possibility of discovering new and exciting ways of expression and the honour of working with and learning from the other talented artists at the Alton Mill.
"Art in all its forms is the voice of the soul and it is my hope to share my soul in the work that I do. I have been deeply inspired by so many great voices in the world that in the shining of their own light they have allowed me the freedom to shine my own. If we were all so brave enough as to allow ourselves to just be, to just create and to allow this inner voice to speak with no fear, this is where the great healing begins and where we come to meet ourselves and others in the process." -
