"Royal" Flowers of Autumn Watercolour Workshop with CJ Shelton
- Sat Sep 14, 1 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Studio 206, Alton Mill Arts Centre
Golden yellows, deep purples and vibrant reds have long been associated with “royalty” and pageantry. In the autumn, we see an abundance of these magnificent colours filling fields and lining roadsides in the form of Goldenrod and Aster flowers, abundant berries and wild fruit of all sorts. Working with this rich and “royal” palette of colours will be the focus of this session.
For those new to watercolour you will enjoy learning how to “build” flowers like Asters, Goldenrod, wild grape and others with basic shapes then layering them with colour, washes and fine detailing. And if you have taken floral painting with CJ before then you will surely enjoy learning more tips on brushwork and colour-mixing and how to create realistic petals, leaves and other floral features.
Working from real flowers for inspiration in the beautiful calm environment of CJ’s studio, this will be an enjoyable afternoon creating botanical studies, fit for royalty!
This workshop is suitable for both beginners and advanced students alike. Experienced students can bring their own paints and brushes. Paper and stretching boards are supplied.
PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Contact CJ at 519-942-2018 or email artist@dancingmoondesigns.ca
