A varietal mashup of monologues, one-act plays and spoken word, starring Pam Hewitt, Andy Ingram, Harry Posner, Barb Stasiw, Kristian Warburton, Andrew Welch, and Jay Wilson.

Jay Wilson - Director Pandora’s Sox

Jay’s work experience with the National Tap Dance Company of Canada (no, he doesn’t dance), the Gravenhurst Opera House (he doesn’t sing) and Theatre Collingwood (Jay likes to ski) as well as a long-ago degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Waterloo, 4 years touring puppet shows with the Ontario Ministry of Health and numerous acting roles in summer theatre productions has resulted in Jay starting his own business in theatre.

Founded in 2010, his one-man company, Pandora’s Sox, now has seven shows in its repertoire – “The Variety Show I,II,III and IV” for seniors…and “Pandora’s Box-The Puppet Show”, “Puppets and Songs” and a new show “Everything’s Tickety-boo” for children.

Combining his love of performing with his business skills in arts administration allows Jay to do just as he pleases…which is pleasing you.

 Andy Ingram is an award-winning actor and director, from Brampton Ontario.  After graduating top of his class at the University of Toronto and Sheridan's joint Theatre and Drama Studies Program, he set out to make his voice heard on the stages of Toronto.  Though Andy found success as an independent artist, he decided to go back to U of T and earn his Masters degree in Theatre, Drama and Performance Studies.  Focusing his gaze on stage combat, Andy became the only individual in Canada who has a Masters degree in Theatre and is also a working stage combat instructor certified by the Academy of Fight Directors of Canada.  Andy will be gracing the stage again this summer, playing Don Pedro in Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing for Rose Theatre Brampton.  Lastly, Andy will soon be taking on his greatest challenge to date: Directing Mary Poppins the Musical for Steppin' Out Theatrical Productions at the Richmond Hill Centre for Performing Arts in November!

Harry Posner is a writer, poet, spoken word performer, and all round creative energizer bunny. He has performed his poetry for the openings of fountains, jazz festivals, and accompanied by a mime artist on the same stage as astronaut Chris Hadfield and playwright Dan Needles. He can therefore say that he’s always ready for take-off, whether starry or funny.

Barb Stasiw has recently moved back to Canada after living and performing in the US for twenty-two years. She has studied at Uta Hagen's HB Studio in New York. Barb believes that studying Acting allows us to be more aware of the human condition. And what could be more interesting than the human condition?

Pam Hewitt has spent lots of time in the theatre world.  In this area, you might have seen her at Century Church Theatre in My Giddy Aunt, The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen's Guild Dramatic Society Murder Mystery, Touch and Go, and Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pinafore.  She has produced, directed, made costumes, found props, set dressing and many other things related to getting a show to stage, but her first love is performing.  Recent characters have included Mrs. Claus on the Harbourfront Boat Cruises, an 1812 resident of York during the Celebrations of the war of 1812 in Toronto, a pirate during Toronto Waterfront events and a 12th Century lady presenting workshops on the daily life at that time.  She regularly plays a patient for interactive training workshops for Health care Professionals.  When asked at the end of these workshops who she really is, her reply is often "It doesn't matter who I really am, it’s who am I today."

Ricky Schaede is a visionary artist who uses painting to explore other worlds: worlds of psychedelic creatures and landscapes, worlds of the human condition, worlds seen and unseen.  He is a poet, the writer of two unpublished novels, and even dabbled in theatre in his younger years. To learn more about the artist and his work, visit www.rickyschaede.com. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Andrew Welch

 

Andrew Welch is well-known to locals as the Official Town Crier of Caledon, but prior to that he had a decades-long career in professional theatre.  Locally, Culture Café regulars might recall his presentation on set design here back in January, and he also directed Theatre Orangeville’s Young Company for two seasons.



 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Kristian Warburton. 

 

Kristian has spent his life in or around the theatre. Starting in cereal commericals at age eight he has performed in everything from Les Miserables in the Orangeville Young Company to improv shows in theatres around Toronto. An aspiring comedian, Kristian holds a degree in comedy writing and performance from Humber College and plans to return there in the fall to study film.
