Pond Gallery

Founded approximately 40 years ago, the Mississauga Watercolour Society meets weekly at Riverwood to pursue a common interest in painting. During the summer months the group arranges to meet at different outdoor locations to paint the Ontario landscape en plein air. They have been inspired by the quaintness of Elora, the spectacular views of Terra Cotta, Caledon and the Niagara escarpment.

Expressions consists of a variety of subject matter including landscapes, still life and florals in various styles including representational, expressionist and abstract. All the paintings are in watermedia namely, watercolour, inks and fluid acrylic. Care has been taken to protect and preserve the finished paintings by using conservation acid free matting and framing under glass.

The group includes award winning artists whose paintings have been juried into many prestigious exhibitions throughout southern Ontario. Several of the members also belong to the Colour and Form Society, the Toronto Watercolour Society, the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour, the Ontario Society of Artists and the Society of Canadian Artists. The artists exhibiting in Expressions are: Gail Backus, Ed Clark, Rosemary Delehanty-Scholl, Betty MacGregor, Marlene McKitterick, John Reid, Doreen Renner, Betty Tugman, and Peggy Winterton.
