The Alton Mill Arts Centre hosts a wonderful weekend of art exhibitions, open studios and workshops. Taking place Nov. 26th-27th, experience works of arts and crafts ranging from ceramics to wood, jewellery and paintings. Families can enjoy music, great food from our café, our painted Christmas tree forest, shop our Christmas markets and take photos with the Grinch.

Open Studio Painting Party with artist Mark Grice. Sunday, Nov 27th 1-4 pm. Pre registration required. $40 each.

Colouring Tree Drawing with artist CJ Shelton. Leave your mark by coloring in/writing messages on black and white mandalas drawn on wooden Christmas tree shapes. A very zen activity in the midst of holiday bustle! The tree will “grow” over the course of the holidays as visitors add to it.

The Hive Encaustic Studio will be offering Give it a Whirl! on Nov. 26th from 1-2 or 3-4pm. Pre registration required. Price $20 per person + hst. Try out the ancient art of painting with beeswax in 'the hive' (Studio 201) during the holiday open house. Go home with a few small pieces of encaustic that you have made!

Looking for a whimsical alternative to your traditional Christmas tree? Visit our 'Painted Christmas Tree Forest' on the second floor of the Mill to experience Christmas trees like you've never before! Take a look at all the different three dimensional Yuletide works the Mill's artists have created - a perfect photo opportunity. Our painted trees will also be placed throughout the Mill, there are over 20 works on wood for you to discover! All of these wonderful works of art are available for purchase.

Each of these markets features unique gift items created by local artisans - perfect for putting under the tree!
