Headwaters Arts presents

Wild & Free

After a long winter hibernation, all of nature is poised to break free. Headwaters Arts third members’ show of 2023, Wild & Free is a vibrant, colourful and explosive collection of expressions of flora and fauna as interpreted by 35 artists from across Headwaters region. Artists are so inspired by the wild and the re-birth and beauty of spring’s flora and fauna, this show promises to get all of us excited for the coming of Spring.

The 47 selected pieces on exhibit include works in a variety of mediums: oil, watercolour and acrylic paintings, pastels, textiles, encaustic/mixed media, prints, photogram, fine art photography, mixed media mosaic, clay, metal and acrylic/paper.

Participating member artists: Agnes Bellegris, Anita Pietras, Bhavna Bhatnagar, Carole Watson, Christina Schilling, Courtney Chard, David Courtney, Deb Menken, Deborah Powell, Haley Marfleet, Iris Ranieri, Jaime Nevitt, Jennifer Brighton, Jo Thomson, Jody Leamen, Julie Park, Karen Brown, Laura Faber, Lindsay Pearson, Lorraine Roberts, Lynn Gilbank, Margaret Peter, Marion Plaunt, Marnie Cooke, MaryLou Hurley, Mina Zare, Nancy MacNabb, Olimpia Pedota, Pat Hertzberg, Samantha Hurley, Sue Ennis, Susan Powell, Tanya Fenkell, Trisha Miller and Vanessa Hertzberg.

Textile artist Lynn Gilbank, from Mono says, “Curious Kit” is a symbol of a young and curious creature who embodies the meaning of innocence and the ability to be free from fear and open to exploration.”

“Crocuses are some of the earliest blooming flowers of the new season, as are the beautiful blooms of a magnolia tree. A delight for any artist and person. The rays of the sun, that new and exciting splash of colour, and our spirits seem to vibrate with a new sense of rebirth and creative energy”, says Anita Pietras, artist from Brampton.

Meet the artists at the official Opening Reception to be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023 from 1-3 pm at the Headwaters Arts Gallery in the Alton Mill Arts Centre, Alton, Ontario.
