Thanks to our Sponsors from the Alton Millpond Hockey Tournament

February 11, 2013

Thanks to Scotia Bank who was our primary sponsor, offering a generous $5,000 donation for the Millpond. Many thanks also to Olympia Sand and Gravel for sponsoring the dinner event.

For the first time this year the tournament featured kid's games with four teams from the Caledon Minor Hockey Association. The tournament also featured two women's teams and four men's teams. The Caledon Quarrymen were crowned champions in the final game against the upstart Alton beavers, winning the coveted Millpond Cup for the third time in four years.

Ray Scapinello, former NHL linesman and member of the Hockey Hall of Fame refereed the games for the fourth year in a row and was ably assisted by Ray Neil.

Dave Dryden, former NHL goalie and brother of Ken Dryden was the guest speaker during the dinner event. Dave spoke about "magic moments" in life that come to everyone when they realize they have something important to contribute to the world. He also touched on his family run charity called Sleeping Children Around the World

The event was hosted in the Mill and was organized by a local committee representing the Ward One area of Caledon, including members from the Caledon Lions Club and Caledon Optimists Club.

The event was a tremendous success, and we'd like to thank all of our sponsors, supporters and participants. For a full ist of sponsors and participants please visit the Millpond Hockey Tournament Website

See you next year on the ice!
