Come See What the "Buzz" is About
There is a new exhibition in the Headwaters Arts Gallery featuring by artists Karen Brown and Kim Kool. "In the Hive" features over 60 encaustic and cold wax works and will be on display until November 6th.
Both artists offer workshops in their studio as introductions to this ancient art form. As Brown shared, “The show will also be honouring the bees as our “collaborators” with educational information about the life of honey bees.”
A recent article in the Orangeville Citizen, Zachary Roman said:
" Kool and Brown have a close connection to the Alton Mill Arts Centre, since they both create and teach out of a studio there. Encaustic paintings are created by mixing beeswax with pigments in various forms, and they’ve been created for a very long time.
'Examples of encaustic paintings have survived from the Roman empires and are still as vibrant and colourful today as they were when they were painted,' said Brown, who grew up on a farm in the countryside. 'It’s not art until it becomes personal. That personal quality of life and art are what I am striving for. I want my life to reflect the best of me and my art to be an expression of who I am.'"

The show will be running until November 6th, 2022 - buzz on by to see it while you can!
