A Refreshing Local Event
July 24, 2019
Sunday, July 21st was a beautiful summer's day; the perfect backdrop for the annual Alton Mill Wine & Food Festival. This year's community event was a sunny success, with visitors, volunteers, performers, and vendors connecting over local food, drink, and art. Thank you to everyone who attended the festival, and especially the Orangeville-based organizers, Collective Creations Events for all their dedication and hard work.
A special highlight of this year's festival was the first ever sustainable fashion show featuring exclusively the vendors of the Mill's textile market, Rare Threads. In keeping with the festival's broader theme of sustainability, Alton neighbours Felix & Ginger Salon styled the model's hair without the use of electricity -- no straigteners or curlers! Volunteer models walked the catwalk in the Annex ruins, under a tented ceiling, to the delight of festival goers. The event was hosted by Janet Virre, owner of TresBello, also a featured vendor in Rare Threads.
Thank you to event partners and especially McLean-Sherwood for their donation!
