Steven was born in Mississauga, Ontario, and he completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Queen's University in 1989. With experience as an art teacher and a computer graphic designer, Steven is now putting his painting at the forefront of his professional life. He is a contemporary realist painter who lives in Orangeville, Ontario and has recently occupied studio space here at the Mill.
Steven's painting technique conforms to the realist tradition, although his compositions often translate as subtly modern and conceptual. His figurative compositions invite psychological discussion due to their strong narrative component, while his TV Series bridges the gap between fine art and popular culture. Whether still-life or landscape, Steven attempts to offer an updated take on these genres, too.
