Susan Ross - Narratives. New Work
- Wed Mar 12 - Sun Mar 30
The Falls Gallery
This exhibition features new works by painter Susan Ross in the Falls Gallery March 12 - March 30. Reception Saturday March 15, 2-4 pm.
A graduate of the Alberta College of Art, Ross has exhibited in many juried shows, commercial and public art galleries. Awards include The Sun Times People’s Choice Award at Tom Thomson Memorial Art Gallery in Owen Sound, Ontario and second place at the 2012 Juried VAM Show at the Art Gallery of Mississauga.
Her work has evolved from colourful abstracted landscapes and street scenes to her current explorations in native-influenced pure abstracts.
Artist's Statement:
"My practice is a personal narrative rooted in abstraction. I work mainly from a formal position; creating tensions and balances between colour, shape, line and space. It’s a very intimate relationship where process is the driving force. Intuition, trust, letting go and self-exploration are essential elements in this creative process.
I try to push it to a point where I go beyond formal elements and the painting takes on a life of its own. Making mistakes and keeping the right ones keeps it raw and experimental.
Ultimately it’s about exposing an internal landscape..... I paint from the inside out...."
